I still can’t laydown

633 hands

+$26.35 (16.65BB/100)

+$4.40 (SNGs)

$326.90

I was up a buy-in early in the afternoon’s session. Turning nut flush against a fish who can’t lay down pocket kings. I followed this fish onto another 25NL table. And i proceed to call his river bet on a 5789T board holding a 6. While of course he already has JQ for the nut straight. I knew when he shoved the river that he must at least have a J  but i still couldn’t laydown.

Later i manage to value bet my AQ against another fish who can’t laydown A8, and bet pot on me 3 streets. I was up half a buyin from him. I followed this fish also to a 25NL 6-max table. This was the first time I’m playing a 6-max game, but for the sake of this 54/30 fish, i would try. I soon find the perfect situation to exploit this fish. He limps and i raise it up with AQ in position, he calls. Flop came A x x two diamonds. I bet, he calls. Turn came another low card, another diamond. I bet he calls. River came another diamond, which was kinda ugh. He bet $6 into the $9 pot. There was nothing i beat considering how he check/call, check/call and lead out so big like that. I knew he had a flush. But i couldn’t laydown. He showed AJ, with the Jack of diamonds. I would have had another street of value if not for that diamond!

Fishes pay me off so much and so quick. That i feel like it is worth the effort to chase them around. But instead of taking their stack, i donated my stack to them because i couldn’t laydown when they actually hit something.

But thankfully i manage to eek out a profit for the session despite being down about $10 at one point. I don’t know how, but it was a series of small $3 $4 pots that end up giving me a $12 profit for the 400 hand session. I am not playing 1000 hands like i plan to. But more like 400-600 hands a day. I am happy with this volume. It is enough to get me a Silver Star for this month. I am at 610 VPP right now, 590 more will get me Silver Star. 2390 more will get me Gold Star. I think the rate is about 1 VPP for 10 hands. So far I’ve played roughly 6000 hands at 25NL, so i guess i will take me 5900 more hands for SilverStar and 23900 more hands for Gold Star. So i need to play roughly 590 hands/day for Silver Star and 2390 hands/day for GoldStar. I was aiming for GoldStar earlier, but it seems that it would be a stretch now. Whereas the 590 hands/day for Silver Star seems perfect.

I am confused what to get with the VPP points. However i would lean towards apparel or books. I don’t know if they could ship to Indonesia though… my friend W said you have to buy loads if u want them to ship to Indonesia. He just bought like 8 Full Tilt t-shirts and has been wearing them the last 2 times i met him haha.

Today i also tried to play $1 SNGs for a change. I started playing SNGs, particularly $3.80 super turbos and $2.25 turbos on full tilt. I actually did pretty good on the super turbos and have like $30-$50 profit on it. So I tried playing $1 SNGs to try to get ranked on the Battle of the Planets for the Mercury Division ($1-$2.99). I played 2 SNGs to start, and ran so bad, i didn’t feel like playing anymore. I had AK with the king of hearts, and flop came heart heart heart and low. Loose chip leader shoved on me, I obviously call. He shoved Q7o no hearts. I don’t know what he was thinking. Of course now he only has 4 outs, and he hits the 7. So i was out. I can’t be bothered playing non-turbo SNGs as they are slow and really boring compared to turbos. I played the $1 45man turbo which I won the last time i played. I also fired up 3 more $1 SNGs. I finished 8th in one of them pffff. QK on the limped preflop. flop Q, bet bet bet, guy shows AQ. Another cooler hands i can’t remember, reminds me that i shouldn’t play marginal holdings like KQ and AJ early in a SNG. However, my luck would turn for the better. I started running insanely well in the 45-man, which is what mattered. And also in the other 2 SNGs. Manage to end 2nd and 3rd on the SNGs for $4.50. Examples of cool hands from the 45man are, i raise 3x from the button with Ac7c. Flop came Kc Xc Xc. Guy shoves stack on me, awesome. I call he shows KTo and was pretty pissed at how lucky i was lol. I also limped 88 and flop came A 8 x, first to act shoved, guy next to him shove too, i call obviously. One guy had ace, the other had like a draw, i won the 3-way pot and was 2nd out of like 20+ people. From then on i just folded and folded. Final table came, and i folded every single hand until i busted in 3rd. Cool, $7! So my profit is $11.50 and i spent $1.20*5 + $1.10 = $7.10. Profit = $4.40. It’s actually pretty good money compared to the effort put in. I certainly think that it was easier earned compared to cash games. But of course i ran well in the 45-man to make up for the shitty 9-mans. Need like 450 points to get into top 100 of Low Orbit. So far i am 45 points after 5 games. If i go on at this rate, i am going to end with 180 points after 20 games. Not even half what it takes! 405 points more /15 games = 27 points/game. So i need to finish 2nd in all game i am to play to just get into the low orbit ranking. Not too realistic. I might just give up lol. Focus on Cash Games!

Super Turbo Update

Filed under: SNG — binbag @ 8:29 pm

After yesterday’s rant, i actually ran bad again. And was going through another 8 games, 1 cash session. But my last 3 games has been good, i feel like i am for once really improving in this really high variance game. This is what i improved on.

My earlier strategy is basically

  • shove 77+ AQ+ from any position.
  • shove Ax in the sb/button/cutoff.
  • shove any hand in the sb when im down to 4 big blinds

I find that shoving 77 has been getting me into trouble so now i no longer do that.

I realise that there are similarities with normal SNG strategy in that we should be tight when against 8 other players. But we can open up more when we are down to 5/6. I guess we are against less cards therefore less variance when we get a reasonable hand.

I no longer shove 77, and i’m thinking of not shoving 88 99 AQo too, and just stick with TT+ AKo+

I don’t know.. it really depends. And if guy is loose, i might call with as low as AJ or 66.

But otherwise i think of tightening up my early game a bit, and it’s doing me considerable good so far.

Nowadays i just find myself humming  to Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer. “Swing… Swing…” One of my favourite songs. 94079023 Jun 05 08:04ET $3.50+$0.30 Sit&Go (Sup Turbo) Turbo $3.50 + $0.30 9 4

So this only goes to show one thing.

I only do well in the beginning of a session! After i wake up and i’m really fresh i tend to play well i guess.

Also you can call me superstitious, but i believe not hating on yourself and believing you will lose and get bad beated is the key. When i’m fresh i feel good i want to win. But when i play for long and get tilted, i have no drive anymore and just lose focus. Doing other things like web browsing, stat-ing my opponents, and listening to music. But when i have nothing but the game going, i play well and cash a lot. I am going to set this rule for myself no web browser/music/more than 1 table.

Found some super turbo articles which say we should only be pushing TT+ AQ+ early game. I actually push 88+ AQ+. Late position i push AT AJ. But i really hate KQs, super pretty card that actually is behind any ace. And in a blog, someone was saying how super turbos are very swingy, i totally agree. I am still up playing this, but the good runs are just deceiving to be honest! and i hope the bad runs are equally deceiving too. But all in all i think i have become a better player despite recent breakeven results. It’s only important that we improve in anything we set out to do. But recently i’ve realised it’s more important to be totally one-minded on a task, not even if you think you can handle it while browsing chatting etc. Focus has it’s own miraculous powers, and wins not necessarily goes to the best player, but someone who wants it most and is most focused & dedicated to it. Going to play soccer now, cyas!

Quads and some Cash Game

Filed under: Cash Game, SNG — binbag @ 11:48 am

Caught 2 quads in SNGs today. Quad Kings and quad Tens. And what are the odds of this, the last time i caught quads, was like 1 month ago, and it was also quad kings quad tens in the same day.

quadkingsbaby

Major suckout! Went all in PF.

quadtens_overQQ

Then this happened to me…

lostto_quadaces

Sick hand happened last week. No action until the river everyone shoves. Quads over my J high flush over ace high flush.

quadsoverflushoverflush

I just know the value of fishes in cash games. You are not going to make as much money as when a fish decides to dump you money. I mean i lost 2 big pots yesterday, both from calling even though i know i’m beat. One was QK on Q98 board, check i bet, he check raise. and shove turn. I should’ve known it’s a set/two pair but i keep thinking donks might have QJ QT and doing the same. But i was wrong… I could have layed this down, maybe save 85 cents.

Then there’s this hand where i flop bottom set on a 2AK board. I thought this was gona be fun, turns out not. And i was against a fish who was nice enough to check behind the nuts on the river lol.

https://www.pokertableratings.com/replayer/index.php?site=fulltilt&id=12580267215&hash=1565273751

confused the hell out of me. when he check i thought i was good. then i was like okay… wait wtf.

This major fish accumulated to like $14.00 in chips at one point. 140 BBs.

But i didn’t catch any premium in 100 hands, except JJ which i folded preflop to a 4-bet (i raise 3x in ep, 2 calls, he reraised to 16x) by quite tight player. And wrongly thought he had QQ KK AA. He showed TT which almost made me puke. Also i would’ve flopped set Jacks on the flop which would have raked in all the money!

By this time i was down to about $3.50 ($10 buyin)

Then i four-outered someone. hit a gutshot on the river. doubled up.

Then this hand happened.. unbelievable what he shows

call 2 streets pot bets with mid pair (shyt kicker)

it’s great to have poker table ratings coz you can smell out the fishes really quick, and not think they are some expert LAG player.

Tried to play cash game after listening to Pokercast with Phil Galfond. He said one thing which is really true. No where else can you play such multi-street action which your only focus will be on maximising EV. Not like in tourneys where you have to think of your stack and your position in the tournament, which leads to a lot of scared playing?? I’ll try to play a few hundred hands again tonight. But oh no im staying over at Mg Besar so i prolly can’t, internet is shit there.
