Russell Peters Live

Filed under: Event — binbag @ 11:47 pm

Woot.. just got back from seeing Russell Peters live at Rock Auditorium, Suntec City. Apparently it’s the same venue my sis has church – New Creation Church. I find it somehow ironic that my sis was in the hall having service in the morning, and I’m there for comedy at night o.O;;

Anyway, for all you Russell Peters fans, I might have to disappoint you here. The show wasn’t that good in my opinion. I thought it was just okay. I don’t know, maybe its cos of the fact that I’ve watched every single video of his on YouTube (including the rare new videos) makes his jokes not as funny anymore. I still laughed when he did the Chinese accents though, that one just works on me every single time. But the other jokes, I forgot them already by now, but they didn’t get me laughing really hard like I would the first time I watched his stuff. All in all, I laughed really hard like 3 times during the show. I remember one joke (sorry Russell), he talked about how he was at Bangalore recently, and apparently the authorities down there banned dancing. However people still get to pee wherever they want. He saw some guy peeing into traffic, and you know how guys have to do that little jerking motion when they discharge their last few drops of pee, right then the police came by and said: “Ey! Were you dancing?!” “No.. no.. just peeing” Something like that. I thought this part was really funny, especially the way he acted it out.

Russell in person, i think he has slimmed down a lot since the first time we saw him in the Comedy Central video. I actually think he looks better with more weight on. Anyway he looks just like a normal person, and it’s not such a wow factor when you get to see him in real life with your own eyes.  He’s really spontaneous though, he managed to really make fun of some of the audience members sitting in the front. Including this part where a guy just came back from toilet, and Russell just really made fun of him so bad right there because the way he ran was quite gay.

I really wanted to take a picture with him, but I guess it wasn’t possible cos he went backstage straight away. And many people would want to take a picture with him if one did, and he would end up just being burdened i guess.
